We live pretty close to an elementary school. Same house for over 20 years. All 3 of my kids went to this same school. We went to a lot of their events there. However, that’s not why I mention it…
I mention it because of the big schoolyard playground we got to play football on!! Lol
I remember these games well. I was all-time quarterback (because I hate running), Jordan and James were usually wide receivers, their cousins from Jen’s side were also wide receivers, and Randy was always the pass rusher lol.
Randy’s sole job was to chase me down and tag (or in his case, tackle lol) me before I passed the ball. So, there he was, lined up across from me….one thousand 1….one thousand 2….(he was usually laughing and ready to chase me by this point)….one thousand 3….HIKE!!
And here he’d come, moving at a much faster pace than I’d usually expect out of him. So, to rob him of his moment to tackle and torture me, I’d have to start running around, which was the LAST thing I wanted to do lol. But he would charge at me, ready to pounce….
Sometimes, he’d catch me. Sometimes, he wouldn’t and would end up falling on the ground himself, laughing at his attempt to really get after me. No matter what though, Randy almost always tried to really chase me down. He LOVED getting after the quarterback lol.
Anyway, in honor of my all-time favorite pass rusher, I put the picture of Randy in the football pads at Lambeau Field as the main picture of this particular post. He wasn’t the most athletic, but we had some fun in those games. I’ll always miss and cherish our Rhoten family Super Bowls…
