Randy and his papow had a special relationship. When these 2 would start joking and laughing, it was a special thing to watch. They would both sit outside on a summer day in Dad’s garage and just joke back and forth. When Randy would bring his joke books over, Dad knew he was in for a long day lol. As long as the day wasn’t too hot for him, Randy would sit out there and laugh at all the silliness him and Dad would come up with. He always believed that he got his sense of humor from Dad. They were cut from the same cloth.
However, it wasn’t always like that. When Randy was a baby, my parents would occasionally babysit him for us. And every time we’d come back to pick him up, my parents would say that he spent the whole time crying lol. Randy just wasn’t used to them. As the years went by and Randy got older, he developed a very special bond with both of my parents. When he got diagnosed with cancer in 2000, my parents were right there by his side. After that, Randy started to enjoy being at their house.
This particular picture was probably 2001-2003 or so. My Dad got out his banjo and him and Randy howled at the moon for a while lol. But this picture right here is my favorite of all the ones I have of Randy and his papow. Randy believed he was put on this earth to make people smile and laugh, which was something he said he got from papow….Randy, you definitely made us smile and laugh. You did good, my son….
